What is your Engineering Program?

Perhaps the Academy’s most distinguishing feature is its Engineering program. Every day, students spend 88 minutes in either Electrical / Computer Engineering or Civil / Mechanical Engineering.

As freshmen, Academy students are given the opportunity to explore each engineering major. In January, these freshmen must then select which engineering major they would prefer to spend the remainder of their four years in, and write a short essay justifying their choice. Most students are then placed into the engineering major that they selected.

From that point forward, students attend the same engineering class every school day for the remainder of their High School career. During this time, they are able to explore more complicated topics in their engineering major, covering concepts rarely touched on in a typical High School.

These classes are both taught by teachers straight out of the industry. Both teachers are able to harness their experiences and expertise in their fields to present a unique learning experience to their students.

Many Academy alumni have reported that their engineering classes at the Academy covered many of the relevant introductory classes in college, providing them with valuable head starts over their peers.
